About Hawk & Heron

Strategic Marketing for Purpose-Driven Companies

Meet Sam

For more than 15 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of marketing and sustainability — helping organizations translate complex ideas into clear, compelling strategies that resonate with the right audiences. My focus has always been on connecting vision to execution: turning big ambitions into the practical tools, stories, and campaigns that drive real-world impact.

Before launching Hawk & Heron Marketing, I served as Vice President of Marketing Strategy at a B-Corp clean energy startup, where I built the Brand Marketing division and partnered across Ops, Finance, and Tech to align climate-conscious standards with business growth. Earlier in my career, I honed my storytelling skills in environmental fundraising and began my marketing journey at National Geographic during its transformation from nonprofit to for-profit — an experience that sparked my conviction in the power of purpose and profitability working hand-in-hand.

I hold an MBA in Marketing Strategy & Social Impact from the University of Maryland and a BA in Writing & Rhetoric from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Let's connect

  • I focus on solutions that balance business outcomes with meaningful, positive impact beyond the bottom line.

  • I craft innovative approaches that capture attention, build connection, and inspire action.

The Balance Behind Hawk & Heron

Hawk & Heron symbolizes the dual strengths I bring to every engagement: the hawk ensures every decision is grounded in data and precision, while the heron transforms ideas into graceful, compelling narratives.

By combining analytical rigor with creative artistry, I turn complexity into clarity and ambiguity into results.
